The Goddess & the Little Girl

There once was a Goddess who carried two sacred flames within her: the flame of power and the flame of innocence. For many lifetimes, she lived through one or the other. At times she was the woman with strength in her voice, fierce and commanding. At other times she was the little girl, soft and tender-hearted. Yet never had she fully embodied both at once. So when a devotee knelt before her, yearning to surrender, to open, to offer all that he was, something deep within her trembled. Not because she lacked power, but because one flame always feared being abandoned by the other. Whenever the devotee hesitated, her power became guarded. Whenever he doubted, her heart withdrew. Whenever he questioned her worth, the little girl inside her grew quiet and unseen. She once believed this meant weakness. She thought she should be stronger, steadier, more certain, more divine.
